The following description is quite detailed. Our intention is to provide insight into the opportunity so that you can make a well-informed choice.

Opportunity Snapshot

This position offers you the "best of both worlds:" you will be a trailblazer as we implement a new strategy to establish high-level consultative relationships with our corporate clients, but you won't start from scratch -- we have some 200 active corporate accounts (involving about 160,000 Notaries Public) and a suite of proven services and programs for you to leverage. And that's just the beginning: there are almost 5 million Notaries in the US and at least 20% are corporate employees. Corporations have the need (particularly from a risk management angle), we have the expertise to meet that need, and none of our competitors even comes close to the National Notary Association's (NNA) size, scope, and influence.

To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have a proven track record in consultative B2B sales, including tailoring professional services delivery to customer needs. We're looking for a professional with a demonstrated ability to sell intangibles -- you'll need to convince corporate decision makers of the value of doing business with the NNA first, and then focus on specific programs and services. Quick question for you - click here While you will need an aggressive drive, you also will need the ability to build collaborative relationships that position the NNA as the consulting expert.

The National Notary Association (NNA) is the nationally and internationally recognized professional association for America's Notaries Public, and the authority and thought leader for the profession. You'll join a stable, progressive organization that has over 50 years of success supporting Notaries with an entrepreneurial and forward-thinking approach.

What Else You'll Bring to the Table

In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you'll need:
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • A solid track record of achieving and exceeding goals in business-to-business (B2B) sales.
  • Demonstrated strength in identifying, developing and closing a B2B sale and managing ongoing B2B relationships.
  • The ability to uncover customer needs and assemble a suite of solutions to meet those needs. Quick question for you - click here
  • Experience presenting to and negotiating agreements with senior executives in large and mid-sized enterprises.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication abilities to effectively interact and communicate with customers, staff and management.
  • Proficiency with MS Windows and Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat/Reader.
  • Experience with contact management systems such as ACT, GOLDMINE, SALESFORCE, etc. is a plus.
  • The ability to adapt to our unique corporate culture while implementing your own style and sales approach.
You also will need to be able to travel nationally up to 50% of the time in this role.

What's in It for You

Revenue growth now and later -- it's like a startup but with an established book of business and the products and services that employers of Notaries need. We expect you'll be able to expand some existing accounts right off the bat simply by changing the way we approach these clients. Over the longer term we believe there is the potential for a multi-million dollar revenue stream from Corporate Services, particularly because of recent legislative changes to which corporations must respond.

Entrepreneurship and execution -- your primary goal will be to go out and do what you do best: build the relationships and bring in the business. We'll provide the packaging and pricing as well as the tools you need to succeed. At the same time, you'll help refine and implement the strategies to build this service line moving forward.

The nation's leader -- we offer services and products for every stage of a Notary's career, from obtaining an original commission to ongoing education, professional supplies, bonds and insurance, emerging technologies, and more. We also have important products that manage risk for a notary's employer.

Career options -- there is enough growth potential in the Corporate Services line to provide a long and rewarding career for a Sales Executive. At the same time, as the line grows so will the sale organization, and down the road we expect to be looking for a proven leader to manage it.

Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive salary and incentive program, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, life, and disability insurance; a 401(k) and profit sharing plan; 12 paid holidays; and generous paid time off.

More About Your Role

The Corporate Services Group provides support to companies that employ Notaries by helping to commission, train and equip their new and renewing Notaries. The Corporate Services representatives work closely with the business contact to develop a customized Notary program and supplies package (which may include Membership, Education, and Insurance and Supplies) for the company's Notaries. This Group currently serves leading organizations in banking and financial services, insurance, legal services, government, health care and other industries.

Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, you will join a team that currently provides inside telesales and support. Your mission will be to make outside calls to our corporate customers to increase sales.

We'll look to you to start with our active accounts, establishing relationships with executive-level contacts in order to present NNA as the expert and partner of choice for all notarial needs. Quick question for you - click here Once you've accomplished that you'll assemble and present specific solutions based on the clients' needs, negotiate terms, and close deals. We anticipate that sales cycles will last between 60 and 120 days, depending on company size.

More specifically, your activities will include:
  • Following up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity.
  • Preparing and delivering presentations, proposals and contracts.
  • Establishing and expanding relationships with all major employers of Notaries, creating awareness of the NNA and its products and services.
  • Maintaining existing customer relationships and improving customer value, measured by sales per Notary.
  • Managing account services through quality checks and other follow-up.
  • Identifying and resolving client concerns.
  • Interfacing with all other NNA groups and departments.
  • Generating and presenting weekly sales progress and forecast reports to the VP/COO.
Each of our employees goes through a structured education program that provides the essential knowledge of the Notary Public profession and develops important understanding of how the NNA serves the nearly 5 million Notaries.

Keys to Success

Our unique culture is both entrepreneurial and collaborative; while we encourage all to have strong views and be ready to articulate them, you won't find oversized egos at the NNA. In addition, in order to be an outstanding Sales Executive, you will:
  • Be resourceful and willing to "roll up your sleeves" to get the job done with the resources on hand.
  • Bring an innovative and solutions oriented approach and a passion for superior results.
  • Remain responsive to organizational strategy and culture as well as customer needs.
  • Operate with an appropriate sense of urgency.
If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
